[BIRDS WEEDED IN THE INTERVAL]
Birds weeded in the interval of days
they traveled green refuge maps the south
empty at its center
We had been given something incomplete
union of our bodies so on days mine might conceive
you noticed me beside several rocking chairs and tables
covered with blue cloth
In those days I went to work on my geography, a sound
from wind in trees like rushing water
with scant description, the bark
collaring sun
as our little event continued to widen

[LITTLE GREEN PLANTS HELD ONTO EARTH]
Little green plants held onto earth
that dark presence nearer than we know or like to imagine
As when I began to film the wild flowers
up close, my hands induced a terrible shaking
My hands leaking white on clothes
held to my thighs--unmade, ungathered
and dangerous to be secure
Just a few owned flowers and the mind
who is constantly dissolving
That imagined space I thought while walking
beyond the flowerbed, could it be held inside
even as I shifted form?
